Within the framework of the Vietnam - US Energy Security Dialogue, AESS Corporation of the US has proposed a Letter of Intent to Vietnam, wishing to deploy offshore wind power in Binh Thuan with a cost of 13 billion USD and 4,000 MW capacity.

The 4th Vietnam-US Annual Energy Security Dialogue took place on July 27 and 28, 2022 in Washington DC, USA.

Head of the Vietnamese delegation attending this year's dialogue is Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Dang Hoang An along with members: Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Electricity Regulatory Authority, Institute of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade); Department of the Americas, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Embassy of Vietnam in the United States; Energy groups include Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group.

The US delegation was led by Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Harry Kamian, along with representatives from the Departments of State and Department of Energy; International Development Finance Agency, American Council on Energy Efficiency, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, United States Agency for International Development, United States Trade and Development Agency.

At the dialogue, representatives of the two sides presented key issues in bilateral energy cooperation including clean power generation, electricity market development, energy saving and efficiency, transmission and storage energy.

Also at the dialogue, the two sides discussed in detail about clean energy technologies such as Hydrogen, storage batteries, nuclear energy, as well as urgent plans to promote the energy transition to achieve the goal. net zero emissions by 2050.

The dialogue acknowledges and welcomes the participation of Vietnamese and US businesses in the energy sector, including Vietnam Electricity, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, Vietnam Gas Corporation, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, and the Vietnam National Gas Corporation. Vietnam Petroleum Exploration, Production and Services Company, Center for Law and Social Policy, American Council on Energy Efficiency Economics, Regional Initiative on Greenhouse Gases, AES Corporation.

Within the framework of this Dialogue, AES Group proposed a Letter of Intent to the Vietnamese delegation, wishing to deploy an offshore wind power project in Binh Thuan province with a total cost of 13 billion USD, with an expected capacity of 4,000 MW.

AES Corporation hopes that the implementation of this offshore wind power project will contribute to Vietnam's carbon emission reduction plan and achieve the target committed at COP26. The United States Trade and Development Authority (USTDA) has announced technical assistance to the National Power Transmission Corporation of Vietnam (NPT) to accelerate the deployment of smart grid technologies under the IT Roadmap. 2.0 of Vietnam Electricity Corporation. NPT has selected LLC to implement this technical support.

In addition, the Department of Energy Resources of the United States Department of State has sent an official invitation to the Vietnamese delegation to attend two field trips to visit the electricity and renewable energy markets, which are expected to take place at the end of 2022 in USA.
