According to information from Hateco Group Joint Stock Company, currently, the project to build port number 5.6 at the port area of ​​Lach Huyen district (Hai Phong) is in the process of handling procedures to be able to start. labour. Project documents and procedures are in the final stage and ready to be completed.

The leadership of Hateco Company confirmed: “Currently, the project progress is still in the initial estimate. We also want to do it immediately, but the specific time cannot be said in advance because the relevant documents have not been completed. However, the project will definitely start in 2022, not later."

The investment project to build port number 5 and 6 in Lach Huyen, Hai Phong on 11/2 was approved by the Prime Minister to adjust the investment policy in Decision No. 186.

Previously, in Decision No. 299/QD-TTg issued on March 4, 2021, the project's scale was about 47 hectares, including:

  • 2 berths with a length of 750m (375m each) capable of receiving container ships up to 100,000DWT (equivalent to a capacity of 8,000 TEUs)

  • 1 barge berth to receive ships, with a capacity of 48 TEUs

  • Port protection works, warehouse system, port service infrastructure, ship parking area and area connected to public navigation channel in Lach Huyen district

The total initial registered investment capital of the project is more than 6,000 billion VND with the equity accounting for 15% and the rest being borrowed capital and other lawfully mobilized capital. Specifically, phase 1 (from 2020-2025) is VND 6,072 billion, phase 2 is VND 352,236 billion.

However, in the recent Decision No. 186, the project scale has been expanded to about 30-35% to improve the efficiency of port operation and competitiveness with international ports in the region.

The Prime Minister has approved to adjust the project to construction:

  • 2 berths with a length of 990m (each pier is 450m long) to accommodate container ships of 12,000 - 18,000 TEUs

  • 1 barge berth with a width of 100, receiving ships with a capacity of 160 TEUs

  • Port protection works, warehouse system, port service infrastructure, ship parking area and area connected to public navigation channel in Lach Huyen district

At the same time, the project's land use scale has also increased to more than 58ha, not to mention the ship parking area and the water area connected to the public navigational channel. Accordingly, investment capital increased, falling to about 8,900 billion VND. In addition to expanding the project scale, other approved contents will not be adjusted.
