Son My Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Trading Company Limited (Son My Company) has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport for consideration and approval of the investment policy of the General Port project. Son My in May.

The project scale is about 160ha in Son My commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province; including general wharfs and cargo warehouses. Specifically, the company proposes to build 3 general wharfs and 3 specialized wharfs. The general wharf is capable of receiving ships of up to 50,000 tons. Specialized wharf to receive large ships of 150,000 tons.

The project consists of 2 phases:

  • Phase 1 (2022-2024): construction of breakwaters (excluding southern breakwaters); embankment protection, embellishment of yards, goods warehouses; dredging water areas, channels, turning basins and setting up navigational signals for ships up to 100,000 DWT. Construction of two general wharfs, a petroleum wharf for ships of 100,000 DWT, a LNG wharf No. 1 serving Son My 1 factory.

  • Phase 2 (2024-2026): building section 2 of the southern breakwater, a general bridge for ships of 50,000 DWT, and a LNG wharf No. 1 serving Son My 2 factory.


 

The project is in line with the planning of Vietnam's seaports

According to information from the Maritime Administration, in the master plan for development of Vietnam's seaport system in the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Binh Thuan seaport includes port areas: Vinh Tan wharf area, Son wharf area. America, Ke Ga port, offshore wharves (Hong Ngoc, Su Tu Den, Su Tu Vang, Thang Long - Dong Do), Phan Thiet and Phu Quy wharfs.

Therefore, the proposal that the Son My wharf area is planned to directly serve the Son My industrial park, with a gas/liquefied gas cargo terminal, a general wharf, and a passenger wharf is suitable for the needs and capacity of the operator. invest.

In addition, with the current demand, the development and reception of gas / liquefied gas cargo ships of 150,000 tons; General ships, bulk cargoes of 100,000 tons, international ships are suitable.

According to Decision No. 2370/QD-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport, the detailed planning of the South Central Coast group of seaports (group 4) for the period to 2030, with a vision to 2030, includes the Binh Thuan seaport area.

Therefore, the Maritime Administration has requested the Ministry of Transport to consider and direct Binh Thuan province to cooperate with investors to ensure the detailed planning of Son My port area is synchronous with the overall scale of the port. Binh Thuan beach and surrounding areas.
