Petrovietnam CEO Le Manh Cuong meets French Ambassador to promote energy cooperation
On May 21 in Hanoi, Petrovietnam CEO Le Manh Cuong held a meeting with French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet to discuss cooperation opportunities in the energy sector.
During the meeting, Ambassador Olivier Brochet congratulated Le Manh Cuong on his appointment as the new CEO of Petrovietnam and expressed confidence that, in his new role, he would continue leading the group in strengthening its position as a core enterprise in the energy sector and a key economic driver of Vietnam.
The Ambassador emphasized that there remains significant potential for cooperation between Vietnam and France in the energy sector, particularly in the development of nuclear power plants. He also highly appreciated Petrovietnam’s capabilities in implementing large-scale energy projects. Ambassador Olivier Brochet affirmed that he would continue serving as a bridge to promote cooperation between French and Vietnamese enterprises, especially in the energy sector.

Speaking at the meeting, Petrovietnam CEO Le Manh Cuong highlighted the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and France and acknowledged the effectiveness of cooperation between energy enterprises from both countries in recent years.
Le Manh Cuong stated that Petrovietnam has officially transformed its operating model from an oil and gas group into a national industry and energy group. Under this new direction, alongside traditional energy sources, Petrovietnam is also intensifying research into new and renewable energy sources.
According to Petrovietnam’s leadership, the Vietnamese Government has assigned the group to implement the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant project, marking Petrovietnam’s pioneering role in developing the nuclear power industry, a strategic sector that plays an important role in ensuring national energy security.
Petrovietnam CEO Le Manh Cuong expressed his expectation that, in the coming years, Petrovietnam would have more opportunities to cooperate with French energy companies in the research, development, and implementation of energy projects.
