FIATA World Congress 2025: Vietnam welcomes a wave of global logistics cooperation
On the morning of October 8, the plenary session of the 62nd Congress of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) – FIATA World Congress 2025 – officially opened at the National Convention Center, Hanoi. This is the largest global event in the logistics sector, taking place from October 6–10, 2025, and is being hosted in Vietnam for the first time.
With the theme “Green logistics, rapid adaptation,” the congress gathers more than 1,200 delegates from 150 countries and territories, including leaders of associations, international organizations, policymakers, experts, and enterprises in logistics, transportation, import-export, and technology. The event provides an opportunity for Vietnam to showcase its logistics capabilities, expand cooperation, and promote innovation.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Dao Trong Khoa, Chairman of the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), emphasized that hosting the FIATA World Congress is a significant milestone, affirming Vietnam’s position and commitment to sustainable development.
He noted that 2025 – the 99th year of FIATA – marks nearly a century of connecting global supply chains. In the context of global economic fluctuations driven by geopolitical conflicts, trade tensions, and pandemics, green transition and digital technologies are opening opportunities to reshape the logistics industry.
He also stated that Vietnam currently has more than 45,000 logistics enterprises, including approximately 5,000 international freight forwarding companies, and is aiming to become a regional logistics hub with a modern and environmentally friendly infrastructure system.
FIATA President Turgut Erkeskin highly appreciated Vietnam’s efforts in organizing the congress and affirmed that FIATA is strongly promoting digital transformation, the use of electronic bills of lading, and cooperation with international organizations such as WTO, ICAO, and UNESCAP.
He emphasized that FIATA continues to enhance training standards, promote gender equality, and work towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 and SDG 5.
The participation of female leadership in the FIATA Executive Board for the first time is considered an important step forward, affirming the role of women in the global logistics industry.
Within the framework of the congress, a large-scale B2B networking program enables Vietnamese enterprises to connect with leading global logistics corporations, expanding cooperation, investment, and technology transfer.
In addition, seven thematic seminars will address key topics such as cross-border e-commerce, sustainable inland waterway and rail transport, next-generation economic corridors, digital transformation, and innovation.
An international exhibition space with more than 120 booths showcases advanced logistics technologies, solutions, and green transportation innovations, contributing to raising awareness of sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
Participating enterprises highly appreciate this year’s theme, viewing it as an opportunity to access emerging trends such as supply chain digitalization, automation, and AI applications, while also promoting the development of supportive policies for small and medium-sized enterprises in line with international standards and carbon emission regulations (CBAM).
