Lac Da Vang
Goals & Scope of Work
The Block 15-1/05 Lac Da Vang Project is one of the key offshore oil and gas developments in Vietnam, with the main scope involving fabrication and installation of jacket structures for offshore operations.
PPL carried out site-move and load-out for the DLV-A-PP Jacket, ensuring the transfer of the structure from the fabrication yard to marine transportation.
The scope included moving oversized and heavy structures within the fabrication yard, utilizing SPMT systems for transportation and executing load-out onto a barge in accordance with project technical requirements.
Key Challenges
The DLV-A-PP Jacket weighs up to 2,836 tons, requiring specialized transport and load-out solutions
Large dimensions and complex center of gravity, demanding precise calculations for load distribution and stability control
Load-out operations require high precision to ensure safe transfer from yard to barge
Site conditions at the fabrication yard and quay are affected by weather and tidal variations
Solutions & Deployment
PPL implemented the site-move and load-out plan based on detailed engineering calculations and close coordination among stakeholders:
Utilized SPMT systems to transport the jacket structure, ensuring load distribution and stability during movement
Designed a load-out method tailored to yard and quay conditions to ensure safe transfer
Closely monitored key technical parameters such as center of gravity, tilt and load distribution throughout execution
Ensured coordinated operations between engineering, operations and site teams to maintain schedule and minimize risks
