DBN PWN & AB OBS
In December 2023, PPL successfully completed the project of transporting critical modules for PTSC M&C. With meticulous preparation, a professional team, and a commitment to absolute safety, the project was a resounding success, affirming PPL's capabilities in the logistics field.
Goals & Scope of Work
The DBN PWN & AB OBS project required high-precision transportation and load-out services for multiple oil and gas modules and a jacket structure. Acting as the primary logistics partner, PPL was entrusted with the site-move and load-out of the BE module, AB module, and the AB Jacket.
Our objective was to execute a seamless transition of these mission-critical assets from the fabrication yard to the export barge. By successfully delivering all three heavy-lift structures safely and on schedule, PPL set a significant milestone in our project execution capabilities. This achievement earned high commendations from international partners, including North Oil Company Qatar and Ponticelli, further solidifying PPL’s reputation for operational excellence and technical precision in the offshore energy sector.
Key Challenges
Multi-Asset Logistics: Managing the simultaneous load-out of three distinct, ultra-heavy structures onto a single barge necessitated extreme precision in scheduling, spacing, and structural positioning.
Massive Payload Distribution: With individual components exceeding 1,700 metric tons, the operation required stringent control over axle load distribution and hydraulic stability.
Spatial & Temporal Constraints: The project environment at the quay presented significant maneuverability limitations, requiring a highly disciplined transport sequence to maintain efficiency.
Stringent International Compliance: Meeting the top-tier technical and safety benchmarks mandated by North Oil Company Qatar and Ponticelli demanded unwavering operational rigor.
Operational Synchronization: The scale of the project required flawless integration between engineering, technical support, and field operations to ensure success on the critical path.
Solutions & Deployment
Advanced SPMT Fleet: Deployed a specialized configuration of 88 SPMT axle lines and 4 Power Pack Units (PPU) to ensure optimal load distribution, maneuverability, and stability throughout the transport path.
Optimized Load-Out Sequencing: Engineered a custom load-out strategy that facilitated the efficient, safe, and concurrent transfer of all three modules, maximizing barge deck utilization.
Real-Time Technical Monitoring: Maintained strict oversight of all critical parameters—including Center of Gravity (CoG), hydraulic pressure, and vessel trim—throughout the entire transfer process.
Rigorous Quality Management: Executed the project in total alignment with international offshore standards, ensuring that every movement met the demanding quality benchmarks of the project operators.
Seamless Stakeholder Integration: Streamlined communication and operational synergy between the PPL team and PTSC M&C to mitigate risks and ensure the safe, on-schedule delivery of all offshore components.
