Quang Ninh launches first wind power project with total investment of VND 7.3 trillion
The Quang Ninh 1 wind power project comprises 32 modern turbines with a capacity of 200MW. Upon completion, the plant will contribute to supplementing clean energy sources and promoting local economic development.
On April 23, Quang Ninh Province officially commenced construction of its first wind power plant project, Quang Ninh Wind Power Plant No.1, with a total investment of approximately VND 7.3 trillion and a designed capacity of 200 MW. The project marks an important milestone in the province’s transition toward renewable energy development in line with Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The project includes 32 modern wind turbines utilizing advanced technology and is expected to generate nearly 600 million kWh of clean electricity annually once it becomes operational in 2028.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Le Van Anh, Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, emphasized that the project represents a significant step in the province’s transition from a “brown” economy to a “green” economy, contributing to sustainable development goals.
To ensure the project is implemented on schedule and meets quality standards, provincial authorities requested the investor to focus resources on applying modern technologies and strictly complying with regulations related to engineering standards, environmental protection, and occupational safety.
Beyond supplying clean energy, the Quang Ninh Wind Power Plant No.1 project is also expected to create new development opportunities for the region by generating jobs, increasing local budget revenues, improving infrastructure and services, and contributing to the transformation of the local economic structure.
