Laos is expected to spend more than 2 billion USD to export wind power to Vietnam
The Lao government and related energy companies are expected to spend more than 2 billion USD to build a wind power project in Sepon district, Savannakhet province, Central Laos to serve domestic demand and export to Vietnam.
The Lao press reported that the Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment of Laos, Mr. Sathabandith Insisengmay, recently registered with Savan Vayu Renewable Company and Laos LTM Company a Memorandum of Understanding on consideration of the possibility of implementing power projects. wind in the area.
According to the plan, the aforementioned wind power plant will have an installed capacity of 1,200MW, the construction cost is about 2.15 billion USD, and the construction will be completed by the end of 2025.
The electricity generated from this wind power plant will serve the needs of domestic consumption and export, especially to Vietnam.
According to the Lao press, the signing of the MoU is part of a cooperation plan with Vietnam in the energy field. From mid-2021, project developers began to analyze information about this wind power project, realizing that the development of renewable energy has great potential.
